Nothing sells like a Ford truck.
Sales of the Ford F-series jumped to 763,402 from 645,000 the previous year, giving it a runaway U.S. truck sales crown for the 38th consecutive year. Sales rose sharply also for the Chevy Silverado and Ram (Dodge).
The Toyota Camry, for the 17th time in 18 years, was best-selling car model in the country, outselling the Honda Accord, 408,484 to 366,678. The Ford Fusion and Hyundai Elantra were big gainers among cars, while the Hyundai Sonata suffered a sharp decrease.
The Honda CR-V for the second year in a row edged the Ford Escape, 303,904 to 295,993, for sales supremacy among SUVs and crossovers.
Among biggest increases were those for the Subaru Forester, Toyota RAV4, Nissan Pathfinder and Escape.
In a close tally among minivans, Honda Odyssey won with 128,987 sales, followed by Dodge Grand Caravan with 124,019, Chrysler Town & Country 122,288 and Toyota Sienna 121,117.
Overall sales of new cars and trucks neared 15.6 million, compared with 14.5 million in 2012.
